Students who have completed compulsory education in accordance with the national curriculum may enrol into a specific course of study in secondary school. Admission requirements for these specific courses of study are as follow:
General Academics
General academics are open to all students. Those who are of secondary school age but have not completed compulsory school may choose to begin a course of study in general academics.
Academics leading to the matriculation exam and artistic study programmes
Secondary schools negotiate with the Ministry regarding the courses they will offer and admission requirements are developed in accordance with each programme of study. These requirements are published on the website of each school.
Courses of study for disabled students

Secondary schools and the Ministry determine which study programmes each school is going to offer and what the admission requirements will be for each programme, which are available on the website of each school.
Headmasters have the option of permitting students who are 18 years of age, admission to certain programmes even though they do not fulfil the minimum requirements for educational performance at the end of primary school.
